ALBANY, NY- There’s still no deal. New York’s Fiscal Year 2024 state budget was extended yet again for the third time Monday.
The next deadline is Thursday, April 20. At the tune of $227-billion and proposed via Governor Kathy Hochul, the two main snags that have been holding up the process remain at large.
They are bail reform and the housing agenda, with aims of constructing 800,000 new homes over the next decade.
In terms of bail reform, Governor Hochul has promoted changes that would allow judges more discretion for when it comes to defendants and public safety.
This latest extender will allow state workers to receive pay amid ongoing negotiations.
