OKARA LAKES- A man from the Mohawk Valley is accused of towing a camper with switched license plates, among several other offenses in the Western Adirondacks, authorities say.

Todd A. Merithew, 46, of Whitesboro, NY is officially charged with unlicensed operation, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, switched trailer plates and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third-degree, all according to the Town of Webb Police Department.

Chief of Police Ron Johnston says his patrols stopped a truck – with a camper in tow – along State Route 28 in Okara Lakes Sunday morning shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Officers allege that Merithew’s truck was unregistered and uninspected. Furthermore, police said the camper appeared to be unregistered, where investigation revealed that the trailer was reportedly displaying a switched license plate.

Merithew also apparently did not have a license and his operating privilege was suspended.

Police issued Merithew with appearance tickets. He was released and is due to address the charges in Town of Webb Court at a later date.

There were no further details provided.
