WEBB- Law enforcement agencies in the Western Adirondacks conducted their first joint impairment checkpoint detail late last month.

The checkpoint was set up in conjunction between the Town of Webb Police, Town of Inlet Police, New York State Police and New York State DEC and was executed on December 27.

Though there were numerous snowmobilers examined and despite select couple that underwent secondary screenings, the Town of Webb Police says they are pleased to announce that no one was arrested for being impaired or intoxicated.

On the other hand, law enforcement did issue several summons for minor violations that were not specified.

As the peak of this riding season emerges, law enforcement figures are stressing the importance of ‘Riding Right,’ which was the main focus during the latest snowmobile safety press conference in Lewis County.

Riding right, according to officials, extends far beyond just staying on your side of the trail and keeping away from groomers, but rather riding in a manner that allows all snowmobilers to return home safe.
