UPDATE: Single fatality confirmed in Sunday night Forestport blaze

FORESTPORT- A single fatality has been confirmed in Sunday night’s fire in the town of Forestport.

UPDATED STORY: 

The victim in Sunday night’s fatal fire has officially been identified.

As previously reported, emergency responders found the body of a deceased individual during the immediate aftermath of a structure fire at 111 Deer Run Road.

According to Sheriff’s Investigators, this deceased victim has been identified as Dennis Antl, 81.

At press time, authorities said an investigation remains ongoing to determine a cause and origin.

There may be more developments that surface at another time, the Sheriff’s Office said.

ORIGINAL STORY:

It happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. at 111 Deer Run Road.

According to an investigation via the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies located the residence fully involved with reports of an individual still inside.

After the fire was extinguished, an individual was located deceased inside the residence.

At this time, the name of the deceased individual will be withheld pending a positive identification by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office and next of kin notification.

At this time, the investigation is still ongoing, and additional information will be released at a later time.
