BOONVILLE- The village has a new Chief of Police. During a meeting Tuesday night, officials celebrated the swearing in of Dave Olney, who recently retired from the New York State Police as a Sgt. Station Commander.

Prior to this development, Officer Fred Robenski served as the Department’s Officer in Charge since 2019, but was only part time and according to Mayor, Judie Dellerba, the paperwork to operate the department is a full time dedication.

With that said, Officer Robenski decided to work just as a patrolman and recommended the village find a full time replacement.

Chief Olney began his law enforcement career with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office in 1987.

Sheriff Maciol and Chief Deputy Owens both attended Tuesday’s ceremony.
