Village of Lowville passes resolution designating Search & Rescue as primary provider for medical services

LOWVILLE- A Village Resolution has passed that formally designates Lewis County Search & Rescue to be the primary provider of emergency medical services.

Mayor Dan Salmon told Flack Broadcasting that the resolution passed 5-0 after Search & Rescue Chief of Operations, Joshua Levesque, addressed the village board during a meeting Wednesday night.

In summary, Mr. Levesque emphasized that Search & Rescue is already here and is providing service.

Word got out recently that the county has aims of starting up its own EMS service in the wake of an independent study that focused on EMS needs locally.

Mr. Levesque has since responded to a condemning letter by the agency’s now former Medical Director, Dr. Tim Mathis, which highlighted a list of various alleged issues within the organization.

It is now confirmed that Search & Rescue has a new interim medical director.

Mayor Salmon clarified for now that the resolution reflects that of a symbolic gesture, but one that is justified, especially with the many decades of service Search & Rescue has provided for the North Country.
