BOONVILLE- Estella B. Zeigler, 101, widow of Donald, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Wynn Hospital, Utica, following a brief illness.

Affectionately known as Stell, she was born on April 27, 1925 in Glenfield, a daughter of William and Bertha David Brown. After completion of her education at General Martin School, Glenfield, she moved to Boonville in 1943. Her first employment was with Monroe Manufacturing, Boonville, where they produced shuttlecocks for badminton. She was later promoted to supervisor at Monroe’s.

On October 19, 1946, Estella was united in marriage with Donald J. Zeigler at Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville. In the late 1940’s the couple constructed their home on State Route #294, where she has since lived. Estella adored her role as wife and mother providing a loving and caring home for her family. She took pride in the care of their son Kenny through his illness, until his passing in March 1969.

In 1970, Stell began her employment with Adirondack Central School, working in the middle school cafeteria. She was promoted to the cook at the high school, serving in that capacity until her retirement in 1988. Mr. Zeigler, a WWII Navy veteran and retired floor covering installer for Jackson Furniture Co. passed away on April 7, 2016.

Estella enjoyed gardening and in retirement took many camping trips with her husband Donald in their RV.

She is survived by her daughters: Donna Cukrovany, Schaghticoke, NY, Cheri (Donald) Fitzpatrick, Troy, NY, 6 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Donald and son Kenneth, Estella was the last surviving of her 12 siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 24, at 2:00 pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Calling hours will precede the service on Thursday beginning at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Boonville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of America, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite #305, Rockville, Maryland 20852 or to the Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box #164, Boonville, NY 13309.
