Marilyn J. Daskiewich
Boonville- Marilyn J. (Berliner) Daskiewich, 89, a longtime resident of Ford St. and widow of Henry J. “Hank” Daskiewich, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Wynn Hospital, Utica, where she was surrounded by the love of her family.
She grew up in Manhasset, L.I., where she attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, before graduating from Manhasset High School, with the Class of 1953. Marilyn always enjoyed fond memories of spending entire summers with her family at a camp at Highmarket. It was during those summers that she often visited Boonville and eventually, met the love of her life, Henry “Hank” Daskiewich. The couple were united in marriage, on October 25, 1958, at St. Mary’s Church, Manhasset, Long Island, NY. Thereafter the couple settled in Boonville, living on Ford St. for many years. Mr. Daskiewich passed away on July 5, 2021.
Mrs. Daskiewich will be fondly recalled for her twenty-five-year career as a Teacher’s Aid, at Adirondack Central Middle School, in Boonville. In 1964, Mr. Daskiewich and his mother, Mary, purchased the well known Hulbert House, Hotel, Restaurant and Bar, in downtown Boonville. From that time onward, for many years, in addition to her school career, Marilyn was employed as a Hostess and also in everyday activities in the operations of the Hulbert House, including planning the many parties, wedding receptions and holiday celebrations held at the popular establishment.
Marilyn was a devout member of the Catholic faith and a longtime active member of St. Joseph’s church, Boonville. She was also a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Boonville and a devoted volunteer for over 40 years at the New York State Woodsmen’s Field Days. She is survived by her children; son, Michael Daskiewich; daughters and son and law, Tracy Dickson and Eileen (Richard) Esch; and son, Francis Daskiewich. In addition to her husband, Hank, Marilyn was predeceased by a son, David, on September 1, 2018. Also surviving are her grandchildren; a sister, Joan
(Jerry) Gerardi, North Carolina and nieces and nephews which she adored.
Marilyn’s family wishes to express a special note of thanks to her Home Health Care Workers, and the nurses and staff on C-Wing, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Matthew Rawson, at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, NOVEMBER 16, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Church, Charles St. Boonville, with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boonville. There are no calling hours. Her family asks those attending her Mass, to please wear an item of red clothing, as red was her favorite color.
