Sue (Rocker)Greenwell

Marcy/Port Leyden - Sue (Rocker)Greenwell, 81, went to be with Jesus while at Wynn Hospital on Wednesday, July31, 2024. She was born in Port Leyden, New York on May 23, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Guy (R) and Edith (Axtell) Rocker.
Sue attended school at Port Leyden and graduated with the Class of 1961. After receiving her high school diploma, Sue worked at Meelee’s in Utica making music boxes. She was then united in marriage to Duane on April 27, 1963, at the Baptist Church in Boonville, New York. Their home was blessed with their first child, Daniel Duane, in 1965, and a daughter, Kelly Sue, in 1969. The couple built a new home in Marcy, New York in 1971, where they still reside. After their retirement in 1994, they spent several winters in Las Vegas and Arizona before making their winter home in Florida through this past year.

Most of Sue’s life was dedicated to being a loving wife to Duane, a mom to her two children, and a “Non” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sue loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and with their many friends. She also loved to laugh! Family and friends will remember her for her genuine interest and care for their lives.

 Sue is survived by her husband Duane of 61 years and her children, Daniel (Sherry) Greenwell, and Kelly LaQuay;  3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Pastor Guy (Verna) Rocker; 2 nieces and a nephew, and a great-niece and a great-nephew.

Pursuant to Sue’s wishes, a graveside service and burial will beheld at Port Leyden Cemetery on Monday, August 5, at 11:00 am officiated by Pastor Guy Rocker. There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are being made by Mills Funeral Home, Boonville, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be sent to The Shriners Hospital.
