WATERTOWN- A dozen schools throughout Jefferson and Lewis Counties will receive a portion of $25,000 worth of grant funding, thanks to the Safe Schools Endeavor.
In partnership with the Northern New York Community Foundation, this is the fourth year the fund has made grant awards.
For this round, Beaver River Central School was awarded $2,500 to purchase radios for emergency communication for its recently hired school resource officer.
Meanwhile, Copenhagen Central School will utilize $2,500 to combat against students vaping in the bathrooms through the use of new vape sensors. Furthermore, the district will use another $1,750 to bring anti-bullying speaker – Jared Campbell – to present to students: ‘How to be a Superhero Every Day at School.’
Meanwhile, Lowville Academy will also use their $2,092 portion to battle against vaping on school property, including the purchase of vape detectors.
Since its inception, the Safe Schools Endeavor has awarded nearly $87,000 for three-dozen school projects in Jefferson and Lewis counties.
