LEWIS COUNTY- A family home between Lowville and Croghan, NY was destroyed Wednesday in a fire that remains under investigation, authorities say.
Alarms sounded shortly before noontime after a witness told 9-1-1 dispatchers that their house was on fire. Croghan Fire Department was the primary responder.
Emergency agencies responded to 9217 State Route 812, Lowville, NY. The home was owned by Shawn Schwendy.
It’s reported that all five family members made it out safely and are currently receiving assistance via the Red Cross.
Lewis County Emergency Management says the home and all of its contents were completely destroyed.
Beaver Falls and New Bremen Fire Departments provided mutual aid.
No injuries were reported and although no official cause was mentioned at press time, officials did say the fire remains under investigation.
Members from Lewis County Search & Rescue, Sheriff’s Office, Cause and Origin Team, Highway Department and members from National Grid all provided assistance on scene.
