The national average price for a gallon of gas in the U.S. was $3.39 Tuesday morning.
For context, the national average was marginally less last-week at $3.36 per-gallon and even cheaper during this time last-month when it was averaging $3.19 per-gallon.
Still, the current average is slightly cheaper now than at this time a-year-ago, the AAA says.
As of this report, the average price for New York State is $3.34, which is slightly less than the current national average. A month ago now, New Yorkers were paying an average of $3.27 and $3.46 a-year-ago.
“Spring is nearly here, with longer days, better weather, and more opportunities to hit the road,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.
“And we are seeing this reflected in rising gasoline demand. But remember, we see this trend every year.”
Locally, drivers have been paying as low as $3.39 for gas in Lowville, NY and $3.49 in Boonville, NY, according to GasBuddy.
Meanwhile in Watertown, NY, pump prices as of this report have been ranging as low as $3.13 and nearly the exact same in Syracuse, NY
. Finally, pump prices in the Mohawk Valley region have been ranging as low as $3.33 in Rome, NY and as low as $3.16 in Utica, NY.
