The national average price for a gallon of gas was $3.07 Tuesday morning, according to the AAA.
A year ago now, Americans were paying an average of $3.30 at the pump. Meanwhile in New York State, the latest average price as of this report is $3.27, less than when compared to $3.43 last-year.
“I wouldn’t bet the farm on the national average reaching $3 a gallon, even if we are tantalizingly close,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson.
“The mid-winter blahs will likely keep pump prices waffling a few cents up and down for the immediate future. But keep an eye on frigid temps because those can affect refinery production, pushing some regional pump prices higher.”

In Lowville, NY, prices are as low as $3.29 and ranging near $3.47 in Boonville, NY, according to GasBuddy.
Meanwhile, GasBuddy reports pump prices ranging as low as $2.84 in Watertown, NY and just shy of $3.00 in Syracuse, NY.
Finally, GasBuddy reports prices in the Rome, NY area ranging as low as $3.35 and $3.19 in Utica, NY.
