The start of increasing seasonal demand and higher oil costs are two main factors behind a steady rise lately in gas prices, the AAA says.
As of Tuesday morning, the national average price for a gallon of fuel was $3.22, higher than last-month’s average price of $3.07, but still cheaper than a year ago now, when it was $3.41 on the average.
Here in New York State, the average price as of this report is $3.28, showing basically no change from last-month and less than a year ago now, when it was an average of $3.51.

According to GasBuddy, pump prices in the Boonville and Lowville, NY areas range as low as $3.34 and upwards of $3.51 for this report.
Watertown, NY still has some of the least expensive prices within the North Country region, with some establishments offering gas for as low as $3.09 per-gallon, according to GasBuddy.
In comparison, people in Albany, NY are paying nearly the same exact prices. In Syracuse, NY, GasBuddy is reporting even cheaper prices – as low as $2.99.
Finally, gas prices in the Mohawk Valley region are ranging as low as $3.10 in Utica, NY and $3.33 in Rome, NY.
