Accident in Floyd sends Amazon delivery driver to local hospital: Police

FLOYD- A person from out of state received a citation Saturday in the wake of an accident near Floyd, NY involving a delivery van.

It happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. on the Camroden Road, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident involved a 2006 Chevy SUV and an Amazon delivery van.

Richard Hayes, 76, of Fort Meyers, FL was driving the SUV northbound and was trailing behind the Amazon van, operated by David Hollenbeck, 35, of New Hartford, NY.

The wreck occurred when Hayes made a move to pass just as Hollenbeck was turning his van left into a driveway for delivery. A collision occurred, causing damage to both vehicles.

Furthermore, Hollenbeck was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for complaints of neck, back and shoulder pain.

Meanwhile, Deputies issued Hayes with a citation for interfering with safe operation.

Members from Floyd Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance and the New York State Police all assisted on scene.
