BOONVILLE- A local teacher is being recognized for dedicating 50-years to students at Adirondack Central School.
During a routine Board of Education meeting on June 10, Mr. Ed Swiecki was honored by Superintendent of Schools, Heidi Smith, according to some of the latest updates from the Rome Sentinel.
Mr. Swiecki’s teaching career at Adirondack began in 1974 and though officially retired in 2015, it seems as if though Ed cannot help himself but continue on as a substitute ever since.
Based on the folks who responded and shared this development, it appears that Ed has touched the lives of many former students throughout his career.
“I tried to thank each of you individually, so if I missed you, thanks!” Mr. Swiecki wrote in a post to social media responding to the outpouring of tributes added by fellow members of the community.
“Teaching is a passion… you either have it or you don’t,” he also told reporters.
In addition to his teaching career, Mr. Swiecki has also been involved with coaching at Adirondack, including soccer.
