Area fire departments respond to reports of working structure fire Wednesday evening at Shufelts in Remsen

ONEIDA COUNTY- Multiple fire departments responded to reports of a working structure fire Wednesday evening at Shufelts Garage in Remsen, NY.

It happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. Remsen was the primary department on scene, with mutual aid thanks to Barneveld, Floyd and Stittville.

Though details from Oneida County 9-1-1 Dispatch remain somewhat limited, emergency officials can confirm that a tow truck, towards the rear of the garage, caught fire and was destroyed.

Fortunately, the entire garage, which is located along State Route 12, did not go up in smoke, as firefighters managed to successfully control the fire and prevent any spread beyond the back end of the garage.

With that said, there were flames did spread into the walls and ceiling and two other tow trucks sustained damage.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

We will follow up with a cause if and when released by emergency officials.
