Assault complaint results in charges filed against two Herkimer County suspects

HERKIMER COUNTY- Charges have been formally filed against a pair of suspects from Herkimer County after State Police investigated a reported assault incident earlier this month.

According to a news release, Troopers have formally arrested Izayah J. Przelski, age 21, of Newport, NY on one misdemeanor count each of assault and menacing in the third-degrees, while Michael T. Anderson, age 19, of Poland, NY was arrested on one felony count of criminal mischief in the third-degree and one other unspecified violation.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on the night of May 4 in the village of Newport, NY, Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near Norway Street and East Street.

According to Troopers, the investigation determined that residents confronted the driver about speeding through the area, and a physical altercation occurred.

Specifically, Przelski is accused of exiting his vehicle and striking a female victim in the head with a closed fist, causing injury.

A male victim was also placed in fear of physical injury during the confrontation.

Meanwhile, Anderson allegedly damaged the female victim’s cellular phone during the incident.

At press time, police said that Anderson was arraigned and released pending a future court appearance, while Przelski was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
