ONEIDA COUNTY- No injuries were reported after a medical helicopter had to make a sudden landing in the wake of a bird strike Tuesday night.
It happened sometime around 10:45 p.m., according to Boonville Fire Chief Dave Pirtchard Jr.
The fire chief says a LifeNet Helicopter was on the way back from a call when the pilot encountered a flock of birds, thus resulting in a strike.
The pilot had to subsequently set the helicopter down in a nearby field in the Jackson Hill area (Dorn Road and Dorn Spur Road).
Fortunately, the helicopter did not crash and there were no injuries reported.
Chief Pritchard says both the New York State Police and the Sheriff's Office were on scene.
