Boonville-Oneida County Fair receives $130,000 in state money to replace damaged horse barn from winter of 2025

BOONVILLE- Out of the countless number of barns and other structures that collapsed during the winter of 2025, a horse barn at the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds was one of them.

The Fickbohm Barn took quite a heavy beating from a relentless snow blitz that contributed to several other similar structural failures throughout the county and beyond.

According to fair officials, initial estimates to rebuild the barn rang in somewhere around $100,000, plus amenities, which totaled $30,000.

Fair officials, including Ben Simons, took the initiative of solving the issue by reaching out to State Legislators, including the office of Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon.

In previous conversations with Flack Broadcasting , Mr. Simons has mentioned the issue and the steps it has taken to get this project rolling.

Thanks to what Mr. Simons and the rest of the fair board calls a very generous gesture, it’s expected to take about a year for the project to be complete with that $130,000 of state money. As for the Fickbohm Barn, it will be completely new at completion.

This development was announced during Thursday evening’s county legislative BBQ at the Boonville-Oneida County Fair.
