REPORT: U.S. Health & Human Services Secretary visits Fort Drum weeks after base became quarantine location for potential Ebola patients

JEFFERSON COUNTY- U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, paid a visit to Fort Drum on Thursday.

His visit is just two weeks after the renowned Army location quickly was made a quarantine site for possible Ebola patients.

This development is according to some of the latest from WWNY-TV.

Reports suggest that the scenario surfaced when 14 people returning from Congo attempted to cross the border from Canada into the United States right when President Trump changed federal guidelines.

Additionally, Department of Health and Human Services subsequently gave orders for the group to quarantine at Fort Drum for 72-hours. Though it was spur of the moment, team members at Fort Drum quickly responded and managed to provide proper space and food.

“They were accommodating on short notice. A lot of the talks happened in the middle of the night. There were issues including the potential of infection and we needed a lot of cooperation and we got that from Fort Drum,” Secretary Kennedy said.
