BOONVILLE- Local investigators are trying to find the owner of a dog that was found severely injured within the village limits.

It was sometime around 7:00 a.m. Monday when a Boonville Cemetery employee came across a dog that was lying on the ground and appeared to be injured. Boonville Police Department says the dog was found about half-way into the cemetery property.

The dog was found without any tags or ID markings. 

After an examination at the local vet office, it was determined the dog was suffering from a broken back and broken legs.

There were also unsubscribed internal injuries. The dog was subsequently euthanized. 

As of this report, the local dog warden is working to find the owner.
