Boonville Police Department warns of recent text messaging scam

BOONVILLE- The Village Police Department is warning residents of a scam that has recently been going around.

Officer in Charge Fred Robenski notified us Tuesday that he has been receiving complaints of suspicious looking text messages that imply the department is selling hoodies, with the opportunity to get $10 off.

Robenski made it clear that Boonville Police is not currently selling hoodies or any other apparel.

As of this report, he told us the text message is extremely likely to be a scam and those who receive such notification via their mobile phone should disregard it.
