BOONVILLE- Local authorities confirm a call of suspected gunshots Thursday morning turned out to actually be a tractor trailer, which backfired as it traveled through the village.

Still, Boonville Police Officer in Charge Fred Robenski says the caller did the right thing by calling 9-1-1 over something suspicious as such.

Village officers managed to interview a few bystanders shortly after the calls came in, who witnessed the ordeal and confirmed it was the tractor trailer and its "Jake brake."

Amidst this latest fright, there are some village residents who appear to be on edge as the late night boom mystery looms on from earlier this week.

Thanks to security footage provided by Lake Effect Tech, cameras positioned at the Hulbert House and on Main Street managed to capture a pair of booms that were noticed late Tuesday and just after midnight Wednesday.

They were approximately 45-minutes apart.

As of this report, there is no official word or confirmation from emergency officials describing what the sounds were or what they could have been.

Several theories seemed to have circulated around, including that it was just thunder. However, it appears that idea can be scrapped, thanks to analysis from WKTV Meteorologist Bill Kardas.

He made clear that it was not anything related to thunder, fireballs, meteors or earthquakes, according to a reaction he posted on social media.

Based on his radar analysis, he thinks whatever the booms originated from was man-made.

If anything official surfaces regarding this matter, we will share another update.
