LEYDEN & PORT LEYDEN- A whole slew of felony and misdemeanor charges have been filed against at-least two local juveniles in the wake of various burglary and larceny investigations throughout Southern Lewis County, particularly in the Port Leyden, NY area.
According to some of the latest from the New York State Police, there have been arrests made in three separate cases this week, with all involving a 13 and 15-year-old suspect, who are both from Port Leyden.
Because their names are not provided (youthful offender status), it is not yet directly confirmed if they are the same pair involved in all three cases.
With that said, as of this report, Troopers said the teens were charged this week with one felony count each of burglary in the third-degree as a result of a burglary investigation reported last-week in the town of Leyden.
Regarding the second matter, a reported larceny from a vehicle investigation in the village of Port Leyden, authorities said two teenage suspects were charged with one felony count each of grand larceny in the fourth-degree (credit card) and grand larceny in the fourth-degree (property value > $1,000), along with seven misdemeanor counts each of petit larceny.
Complaints regarding that case were first filed on March 17.
Finally for the third case in question, another larceny from a vehicle in Port Leyden, which was reported on March 18, State Police said that two teens are formally charged with one felony count each of grand larceny in the fourth-degree (motor vehicle value > $100).
For all three cases, authorities said an investigation was still pending as of Thursday’s press time. As for the 13 and 15-year-old suspects, Troopers said they were issued with family court appearance tickets.
This report blossoms in the wake of a fury of complaints on social media regarding recent thefts throughout the Southern Lewis County area.
