LEWIS COUNTY- Local emergency responders worked together in fishing a car out of the Black River over the weekend in Southern Lewis County.
It was shortly after 8:00 a.m. Sunday when 9-1-1 dispatchers alerted Port Leyden Fire Department for a car that was submerged in the Black River at Davis Bridge.
Responding agencies found a vehicle that had gone over the bank and into the river.
Fortunately, emergency officials confirmed the driver had made it out and received initial assistance from some good Samaritans who were passing through. The driver was evaluated on-scene and released.
With assistance from 3-G Fire Department and their Cold Water Rescue Team, along with the Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Forest Rangers and Unlimited Collision, the vehicle was removed, officials said.
A portion of Murphy Road was closed down until the scene was cleared.
No further details were available as of this report.
