
JEFFERSON COUNTY- The Carthage Central School Bus Garage burglar has been caught and charged.
Last evening, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Claude E. Baxter, 30, of Champion, NY for one count each of burglary in the third-degree, grand larceny in the third-degree and criminally possessing stolen property in the fifth-degree.
Baxter is accused of entering several school busses, while also going through the garage and several offices.
While fleeing the scene, Baxter was seen on surveillance footage crashing his e-bike into a bus.
According to Sheriff’s Investigators, approximately $40,000 worth of tools were stolen during the burglary.
Baxter was arraigned in CAP Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail on $10,000 bail/$20,000 bond/$40,000 secured bond.
