HARRISBURG- No cause has been determined for a garage that went up in flames Monday afternoon outside the village of Lowville, NY.
It happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. Lowville Fire Department was the primary responder to 3019 Humphrey Road, town of Harrisburg.
According to Lowville Fire Chief Joe Austin, the first wave of responders were tasked with ensuring flames did not spread to the home nearby, as the siding was beginning to melt.
Fortunately, firefighters managed to drench the flames and prevent any further spread to the home. However, the garage and one vehicle that was inside ended up being a total loss.
The property, owned by Frederick Snyder, was insured, emergency officials said.
Though a cause for this fire officially remains undetermined, Chief Austin says it appears the fire likely sparked somewhere in the ceiling of the garage, which would indicate possible electrical issues.
Castorland and Rutland Fire Department both provided mutual aid.
No injuries were reported.
The New York State Police, Town of Harrisburg and National Grid all assisted as well.
