Child pornography case in Lewis County results in felony charge against local suspect

GREIG- A child pornography investigation from over the winter has resulted in the arrest of a Lewis County area suspect.

Timothy Frederick Schmandt, 64, of Greig, NY was arrested and charged on Wednesday morning by the New York State Police (Lowville) on one felony count of possessing a sexual performance by a child under the age of 16 (possession/access to view).

Troopers said this arrest stems from an investigation that began in early January in the town of Greig.

At press time, police said an investigation was still pending. Meanwhile, Schmandt was issued with an appearance ticket.

There were no further details provided.
