Convicted Sex Offender accused of violating New York’s registry for a second time by posing as someone else on social media

JEFFERSON COUNTY- A North Country area convicted sex offender is charged for violating New York’s registry for the second time.

Brandon Chapel, 28, of Carthage, NY is a level one sex offender, which is on the low end of the risk scale for when it comes to how the state gauges the likelihood of someone committing another sex crime.

Chapel was arrested and charged by the Carthage Village Police Department for one felony count of violating New York’s Sex Offender Registry (second offense).

This time, police allege that Chapel used an alias on Facebook that was not reported to the registry.

At press time, police said that Chapel was arraigned and ordered held in Jefferson County Jail on $1,000 bail.
