CROGHAN- Minor damage was reported after local fire departments were called out to a Wednesday house fire in Lewis County.
It happened at 7239 Kirschnerville Road. Croghan Fire Department was the primary responder, with mutual aid received thanks to Beaver Falls, Castorland and New Bremen.
An official cause for this fire was still unknown as of press time. 9-1-1 dispatchers were alerted after witnesses saw smoke and flames from the roof. Specifically, flames and smoke were witnessed near where the chimney came through the roof.
The cause remains under investigation, according to Croghan Fire Chief Robert Shultz.
No injuries were reported. The property is reportedly owned by Jay Virkler.
Members from the Sheriff's Office, Search Rescue and National Grid all assisted.
