LOWVILLE- Daryl Ortlieb has agreed to become Lowville’s new Chief of Police.
He confirmed this development with us Wednesday morning, stating he is “excited to get started.” “There’s plenty to do in this village and Sergeant Matt Martin and I won’t waste time getting things ironed out,” Ortlieb said.
“I’d like to thank the village board for giving me this opportunity.”
The vote took place during an executive gathering Monday.
With over 20-years of service in law enforcement, including leading Boonville’s Police for a time as Officer in Charge, Ortlieb’s Chief of Police position will be effective on Monday, October 16.
In the meantime, Michael Tabolt will continue his role as interim Chief.
As originally reported, former Chief Randy Roggie retired this summer amidst misconduct allegations within the department, which surfaced during a State Police investigation.
