The Democratic Congressional Campaign committee is looking to turn the New York’s 21st Congressional District from red to blue. The campaign arm of the Democratic Party now believes one of New York state’s Republican strongholds is now at play. New York-21 is one of six solidly red districts around the country that the DCCC added to its “Red to Blue” program. DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene told “Spectrum News” that Democratic candidate Blake Gendebien, a local dairy farmer has spent his life serving the North Country as a small business owner and community leader, and he's exactly the kind of independent, pragmatic voice NY-21 families deserve in Congress.” Republican Candidate Anthony Constantino, who founded a lucrative sticker company, has earned a reputation for being combative and eccentric. A former boxer and amateur rapper, Constantino once told the New York Times he is approaching the race like a “boxing match. ”DelBene slammed him as an “out-of-touch extremist who thinks the rules don't apply to him.” Democratic victories in NY-21 are not unheard of — Stefanik’s predecessor was a Democrat. Still, both Stefanik and President Donald Trump carried the district with more than 20 points in 2021.
