Deputies investigate accidental shooting near Forestport

FORESTPORT- Local authorities are investigating an accidental shooting, which occurred over the holiday weekend in Northern Oneida County.

It was shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday when 9-1-1 dispatchers were alerted to an accidental shooting on the Rogers Road, town of Forestport.

According to investigation via the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, a male, who was unidentified as of this report, had managed to shoot himself in the hand.

Police said at press time that he was in stable condition and his injury is non-life threatening. Woodgate Fire Department assisted.
