LEYDEN- A local resident is facing numerous accusations that stem from a domestic incident last January in Lewis County.

Sheriff’s Deputies say they investigated a domestic dispute in the town of Leyden on January 18, which resulted in an arrest warrant issued for Christopher D. Sweeney, 43, of Lowville, NY.

On Monday, police formally arrested and charged Sweeney with counts of harassment in the second-degree; criminal mischief in the fourth-degree and attempted burglary in the second-degree.

It is alleged that Sweeney called the victim several times before showing up to their residence in Port Leyden.

From there, police say that Sweeney smashed a glass door and tried reaching through to grab the victim, who called 9-1-1 and managed to lock herself into another room.

Following an arraignment, Sweeney was released. Meanwhile, an order of protection was issued on the victim’s behalf.
