REMSEN- A local resident is faced with numerous charges, including intoxicated driving and resisting arrest as police investigated reports of an unresponsive vehicle occupant late Sunday night in Oneida County.
The Sheriff's Office was dispatched for a welfare check at around 11:00 p.m. on Steuben Street in the Village of Remsen, NY.
It was reported that a male was possibly unconscious and slumped over the wheel of a black Jeep Cherokee that was parked in the middle of the roadway.
Upon arrival, Deputies did locate one unresponsive male in the driver's seat of a black colored Jeep, identified as Jason K. Light, 52, of Boonville, NY. The Jeep was reportedly parked facing east in the middle of the west bound lane of traffic.
During the investigation, Deputies suspected that Light was possibly under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
Light was advised that he was being placed under arrest and allegedly began to resist when Deputies attempted to place him in custody, the Sheriff's Office said.
Though Light allegedly refused to comply with orders from Deputies, police managed to place him in custody.
Jason was charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and issued several other traffic citations regarding the incident.
Light was taken to the Oneida County Sheriff's Law Enforcement Building for processing and held at the Oneida County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
Deputies were assisted on scene by STaR Ambulance and AGWAY towing of Holland Patent.
