REMSEN- The Sheriff's Office investigated a two car motor vehicle accident, with injuries, Sunday evening in the town of Remsen.

It happened shortly before 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Fairchild and James Roads. The accident involved a 2016 BMW and a 1997 Dodge Ram pick-up.

On scene, Deputies determined that Luis Garcia-Martinez (42) of Remsen, NY, was operating the BMW in a southerly direction on Bardwell Mills Road.

According to emergency officials, Martinez was traveling too fast for the current snow-covered road conditions and was unable to stop for the stop-sign at the intersection of Fairchild Road.

Martinez slid past the stop sign and into the intersection, where he was struck by a 1997 Dodge Ram pickup that was traveling east on Fairchild Road. The pickup was operated by Noah Skermont, 24, of Remsen, NY

The collision sent the BMW into a snowbank and came to rest on the southern shoulder of Fairchild Road.

Martinez was evaluated on scene and then transported by STaR Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for his injuries.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.

Martinez was issued multiple citations regarding the incident, returnable to the Town of Remsen Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the New York State Police, Remsen Fire Department, STaR Ambulance and AGWAY Towing of Holland Patent.
