Document filed with Oneida County Clerk’s Office sheds more light into fatal assault of inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility

MARCY- More details continue surfacing in the wake of a deadly assault on an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility.

A document filed with the Oneida County Clerk’s Office suggests that Robert Brooks, the inmate who was assaulted during the said incident and later pronounced deceased at Wynn Hospital, was assaulted by “multiple” corrections officers within the Infirmary Building.

This development is according to the latest from WKTV.

The incident occurred earlier this month and was recorded on body worn cameras, according to the document.

A member of the State Department of Corrections Office and their Special Investigations Unit has reportedly reviewed the footage and says the assault occurred, involving more than one officer, all while Brooks was handcuffed behind his back.

An official autopsy was conducted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office on December 11, where the final cause and manner of death are still pending as of this report.
