Dog rescued from Snowbird Lake, emergency officials say

ONEIDA COUNTY- A dog was rescued from the icy waters of a local lake over the weekend, authorities say.

It was shortly before 3:00 p.m. Saturday when Oneida County Emergency Dispatch received alerts of a yellow lab that was trapped in the water on Snowbird Lake, near Forestport, NY.

Emergency response included Forestport, along with assistance received from Barneveld, Holland Patent, Star Ambulance, the Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.

Ice rescue teams, including an inflatable rescue boat were utilized to save the dog.

Once ashore, emergency responders evaluated the dog before taking it to a nearby vet office for additional treatment.
