WATSON- A local resident, accused of intoxicated driving in the wake of a motor vehicle crash in Lewis County over the weekend, reportedly registered a BAC over three-times the legal limit.
It was just before 1:00 a.m. Saturday when 9-1-1 dispatch received reports of a crash on the River Road, town of Watson. Emergency responders said they found a side-by-side unit that had gone off the road and into a snowbank after the driver lost control on a curve.
The alleged driver, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Levi J. Brouty, 22, of Castorland, NY, failed field sobriety tests on scene.
At first, Brouty declined any further medical attention while being evaluated on-scene, emergency responders said.
During processing at the Public Safety Building, Deputies said that Brouty registered a .28% BAC.
Brouty was subsequently charged with aggravated DWI, along with several other unspecified vehicle and traffic law violations.
Members from Lowville Fire Department, Search & Rescue and Wolff’s Towing all assisted.
