Suspect in Sangertown Square Mall shooting faced with felony charges, including attempted murder

ONEIDA COUNTY- Police have issued felony charges, including attempted murder, against the suspect responsible in Saturday’s shooting incident at Sangertown Square Mall in New Hartford, NY.

Malachi T. Wynder, 20, of Rome, NY is officially charged with one felony count each of attempted murder, criminally possessing a loaded firearm in the second-degree and reckless endangerment in the first-degree, according to the New Hartford Police Department.

The arrest was executed thanks to assistance received from the Sheriff’s Office and Utica City Police.

Investigators say additional charges may be filed.

Fortunately, no one was killed as a result of this incident and the one victim involved, who received injuries, is recovering, according to what police reported at press time.
