DIANA- Authorities are investigating a crash that involved three vehicles Tuesday night in Lewis County.
It was shortly after 6:00 p.m. when emergency responders were dispatched to State Route 3 in the town of Diana for reports of a motor vehicle accident. Specifically, the incident occurred near South Shore Road (Lake Bonaparte).
State Police Investigators have determined that Charles Freiberger, 70, of Tully, NY was heading west. This is when Freiberger reportedly tried passing numerous vehicles, unsafely, and subsequently sideswiped one, which was being driven by Charles Carr, 41, of Harrisville, NY.
At the same time, the maneuver by Freiberger cut-off another vehicle, driven by Machin Perez, 33, of Syracuse, NY, State Police said.
As a result, Freiberger’s vehicle overturned and landed on its roof, while Perez’s vehicle struck a telephone pole and snapped it in-half.
State Route 3 was closed off for a time while emergency responders worked the scene.
As a result of police investigation, Freiberger was issued with numerous traffic tickets.
In terms of injuries, authorities confirm that there was a passenger in Perez’s vehicle, identified as Jendry Martinez, 40, of Syracuse, NY, who went to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
