
WEST TURIN- An elderly man was rescued from the woods in Lewis County after falling down on the opening day of muzzle-loader season.
It was shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14 when emergency dispatchers received a call for help from an 82-year-old hunter, who was afield in the town of West Turin.
Dispatchers reported that the man claimed he had fell and could not get up on his own.
New York State Forest Rangers were dispatched to assist. Ranger Evans and Thomes worked with Sheriff's Deputies and eventually located the man in Lesser Wilderness State Forest.
Emergency responders helped lift the man to his feet and walk him out to his vehicle.
There were no injuries reported by the New York State DEC.
