New round of legislation signed by Governor Hochul allows beer sales any day of the week and liquor stores to expand hours on Sunday

ALBANY, NY- Beer sales are now allowed statewide on any day of the week, including Sundays.

That’s according to the office of New York Governor Kathy Hochul. She recently signed a legislation package, with aims of improving New York’s Alcoholic Beverage Laws for consumers and small business owners.

"Across New York, breweries, distilleries and other alcoholic beverage businesses are creating jobs and expanding economic opportunity,” Governor Hochul said.

“I'm proud to sign this legislation that will modernize the laws governing the sales of alcoholic beverages in New York.”

In addition to beer sales on Sunday, this legislation also paves the way for liquor and/or wine stores to expand their hours on Sundays (open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.).

As part of the FY 2023 Enacted Budget, alcohol to-go was established as law, allowing take out drinks.

Last year, Governor Hochul also signed legislation to allow catering establishments to apply for off-premises licenses to serve liquor at event locations, supporting caters and small businesses in the hospitality industry.
