HERKIMER COUNTY- The Enchanted Forest Water Safari is celebrating its 70th season of operation and will soon be hosting a special day at the park.

On Friday, August 7, officials say the operational milestone will be celebrated with a day of special giveaways and other surprises.

For those 70 or older, admission to the park that day will be free of charge (with a proper identification shown at any admission gate).

A special commemorative pin will be issued to the first 800 guests through the gates.

According to officials, attendees will be able to enjoy a complimentary birthday treat and meet the Walter Safari mascot at the Museum of Enchanted Memories from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

At 2:15 p.m., a special presentation will be observed to honor Water Safari for receiving the Historic Business Preservation Award from New York State.

Park goers will also have the chance to take part in a 70th anniversary photo trail at rides and attractions throughout the park, including the 19-foot-tall Paul Bunyan statue.

Since 1956, Enchanted Forest and the Water Safari have drawn in countless families and visitors from all over the world.
