HERKIMER COUNTY- A father and son are reunited after becoming separated in the woods.
During the early afternoon hours of Thursday, July 6, Herkimer County 9-1-1 dispatchers started requesting assistance in searching for a lost man in the town of Ohio.
Investigators discovered a father and son duo ventured into the woods to check on their hunting blind, but became separated. The father initially did not make it back out of the woods with his son.
Over the next day, a team of 13 State Forest Rangers, 4 DEC Environmental Conservation Officers, along with the New York State Police and numerous volunteer members with Central Adirondack Search and Rescue Team, Boonville Search & Rescue, Poland Fire Department and Kuyahoora Ambulance all joined in the search effort.
The following morning shortly before 11:00 a.m., the 73-year-old man was found in the Vly Brook drainage area, about a mile and a half from his last known location.
The man told responders that he had lost consciousness and became disoriented. He received evaluation and was taken to a local hospital by family members.
