Five felony sex offense charges filed against North Country resident in Jefferson County, authorities say

CHAMPION- A North Country resident is faced with felony sex offense charges stemming from a case in Jefferson County, authorities say.

Cody R. Schirmer, 28, of Carthage, NY was arrested Tuesday evening by the New York State Police (Carthage). Schirmer is officially charged with three felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child under 17 and two felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

According to Troopers, the arrest stems from a sex offense investigation earlier this month in the town of Champion.

At press time, Schirmer’s arrest status was listed as held and State Police said an investigation was pending.
