ONEIDA COUNTY- Laboratory analysis has confirmed the presence of numerous controlled substances that prison guards were exposed to at Mohawk Correctional Facility (Rome, NY) in the wake of one of the latest contraband cases there.

As previously reported, there was a hazardous exposure incident on April 5, which involved various correction staff during visitor processing.

According to New York State Police investigators, results from lab analysis confirmed these following substances during the incident: Cocaine (Schedule II Controlled Substance) and Ketamine (Schedule III Controlled Substance), along with PCP and AB-CHMINACA (both Schedule I Controlled Substances) and MDMB-4en-PINACA (a prohibited synthetic cannabinoid under New York State regulation).

As previously reported, Shondrea C. Taylor, 53, of Syracuse, NY was identified as the person allegedly responsible for introducing those substances.

Taylor was originally charged with two misdemeanor counts of promoting prison contraband in the second-degree. Now, Taylor is faced with additional counts of criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree, conspiracy in the fifth-degree and a felony for introducing dangerous prison contraband in the first-degree.

During the incident, multiple correction officers reported symptoms consistent with exposure to an unknown substance and were transported for medical evaluation.

The investigation revealed that the materials were intended for delivery to an incarcerated individual, and additional investigative efforts are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the distribution and introduction of these substances.
