LOWVILLE- The Lewis County Recreation, Forestry, & Parks Department has been awarded $68,000 through Round 8 of the Adirondack Park Community Smart Growth Grant Program to purchase grooming equipment for recreational trails.
This funding will strengthen the county’s ability to maintain safe, accessible, and high-quality winter trail systems, supporting skiing, and other non-motorized outdoor recreation activities enjoyed by both residents and visitors.
Round 8 of the Smart Growth Grant supports projects that enhance recreation, protect the environment, expand sustainable economic growth, and advance other smart growth priorities throughout the Adirondack Park region.
Lewis County’s project aligns with these goals by improving trail infrastructure, bolstering tourism, and promoting responsible use of natural resources.
Lewis County extends its appreciation to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for its continued support of community driven projects that improve outdoor recreation, environmental stewardship, and long-term economic vitality.
This project has been funded in part by a grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Adirondack Park Community Smart Growth Program through appropriations from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund (EPF).
