Following successful Back to School Block Party in Lowville, Boonville is aimed for their debut edition in Erwin Park on Saturday, August 26

BOONVILLE- On the heels of a "very successful" Back to School Block Party in Lowville, NY, the folks in Boonville, NY are getting excited for debut event Saturday, August 26.

*UPDATE as of Friday, August 25, 2023: Aimed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the block party is now arranged to take place at the Exhibit Hall, located on the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds. Weather pending, the kick-ball tournament is still on at Erwin Park.

Organizers say this block party is loaded with all sorts of family fun activities.

"It's literally the entirety of Boonville coming together," said spokesperson Joshua Fitzgerald. He has been organizing these back-pack giveaways for the past nine-years, which have become an annual staple for Lewis County and surrounding communities. 

During Lowville's Back to School Block Party last weekend, Fitzgerald says they gave away roughly 150 to 175 back-packs to local school aged kids. 

"We got at-least 200, probably closer to 250 (backpacks) when we're all said and done," Fitzgerald said regarding Boonville's upcoming block party. 

In addition, tickets for the gaming computer raffle will be up for grabs through 3:00 p.m. during the event, as the drawing will be live-streamed on Facebook.

Tickets are available at both Lake Effect Tech stores in Boonville and Lowville. They will also be sold during the block party.

As another school year nears, Fitzgerald would like to extend a sincere thank you to the entire North Country community for helping this annual tradition grow every year.
